IDC PREPARATION

Arrive a day early ( the sooner the better), you will find out that it will save you lots of time and energy for you to participate in the Prep course. You will have an opportunity to meet the Staff, your fellow candidates so that you get to know each other. We want you to relax.

The Prep consists of organizing paperwork, taking a 5-part theory pre-exam which is similar to the IE exam or your DM exam. We will help you and us to remediate your problems. We will also spend some time in the swimming pool and work on demonstration quality of your skills.

Before you arrive at EZ Divers for your IDC

You should have made self-preparations of your own. This will significantly lower the IDC course load and stress level for you. Your IDC will actually be more EZY and enjoyable. If you are well prepared.

Make sure that you organize your paperwork before you arrive! (Candidate Workbooks Completed)

Please bring the following paperwork for the IDC:

  • Documentation of all your certifications.
  • Proof of medical examination not older than 12 months.
  • Proof of CPR and First Aid not older than 24 months.
  • Logbook.
  • 2 passport pictures.
  • Equipment for diving.

    NOTE:
Also please make sure that you answer all the knowledge reviews in the IDC Candidate Workbook before you start your IDC course!
  • If you do not have the required materials, we can arrange for your Padi materials to be sent directly to your home.

Our IDC Preparation Course ( 1 - 2days )

PADI Instructor Development Course

We would like to invite you to our COMPLIMENTARY Prep course.

Candidates taking the PADI Instructor Development Course are expected to have a good knowledge of diving academics and demonstration-quality pool skills. Maybe it has been some time since your Divemaster training or you may have not been active in assisting with classes. Perhaps you are just not entirely confident about your level of expertise. If either of these situations applies in your case, this is why our IDC Preparation Course is a must for all candidates.

This course will alleviate those fears and will thoroughly prepare you to enter the IDC with added confidence in academics and confined water skill demonstrations.

We frequently have IDC candidates who are not comfortable with Physics or the Dive Tables (especially The Wheel) or they are unable to perform pool skills to demonstration quality.

During the IDC Preparation Course we will work closely with you to eliminate your individual difficulties, before the IDC begins. During the IDC you can then concentrate on preparing your IDC assignments, rather than devoting time to reviewing material and skills you should have covered thoroughly in your Divemaster Course.

Tip: It is highly recommended that you purchase a Diving Knowledge Workbook and answer all the questions. This is the best way to prepare for your IE Exams.

PADI Instructor Development Course ( 7 days )

PADI Instructor Development Course Cyprus

The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) is the core of the PADI Instructor training process. The goal of the program is to prepare you to function as an effective PADI Instructor by thoroughly familiarizing you with the PADI system and its entire diver training programs.

You will draw upon your current skills and knowledge while learning how to conduct classroom, pool and open water teaching sessions.

While successful completion of the IDC will prepare you for an EZ pass of the Instructor Examination, this is not the focus of the course, and we conduct at EZ DIVERS. Our program is specifically designed to arm you with the skills and knowledge you will need to begin your career as a Scuba Instructor and be successful.

You will be at ease when you will teach your first "real" course after the IE.

(Please note that the IDC processing fee is not included in the IDC course fee and must be paid to PADI. We also have a complete Instructor Internship Package. Please see our Individual Course Fees page for the current PADI IDC application processing fee. )

Pre-study may also occur through staff led pre-course sessions. IDC Staff Instructors or Course Directors may guide instructor candidates through reading assignments and help them with understanding PADI standards, educational philosophy, training suggestions and other background information.

It’s recommended a minimum of two days be set aside for any pre-study option.

 PADI Instructor Examination (2 days)

IE - Independently conducted by an Instructor Examiner

A PADI Instructor Examination (IE):

This is conducted at one of the hotels and beach over the two days, immediately following one of our EZ IDC.

This program is independently conducted by an Instructor Examiner, who is a member of PADI headquarters staff. This ensures that the evaluation process is objective, impartial and consistent. During the two day program your knowledge of diving theory and the PADI system will be evaluated, as will your ability to deliver teaching presentations in the classroom, pool and openwater.

Please note that the IE fee is not included in the IDC course fee and must be paid to PADI.
Please see our Individual Course Fees page for the current PADI Instructor Examination fee.

IE Prerequisites:

100 logged dives and certified as a diver for 6 months.

Tip: It's worth noting that more people fail at the IE on the theory exams than on anything else. Remember that preparation is the key to your success.

The Course Director and the staff at Easy Divers will make every effort to prepare you for the IE. If you feel that your not ready, to make the final decision and attend the IE. However we are confident when we say that if you have met the requirements in the IDC, we believe that you will be well prepared for the examinations. We would not send you to the IE if we did not believe that you were ready.

Areas of Evaluation:

System Standards & Procedures Exam, Dive Theory Exams (Five Exams), Knowledge Development Presentation, Confined Water teaching Presentation, Open Water teaching presentation, Rescue Exercise in Open Water, Skill Circuit (Five skills to demonstrate) General Diving Skills.

Attending an IE:

An instructor candidate who successfully completes the OWSI program or an entire IDC is eligible to participate in a PADI Instructor Examination (IE) as long as the candidate has documentation of at least 100 logged dives including experience in deep, night and navigation diving.

An instructor candidate who does not meet the dive requirement, must fulfil this requirement before attending an IE. After successful completion of the OWSI program or an entire IDC, a candidate has 12 months from the course completion date to attend an IE.

If more than 12 months pass, the instructor candidate must complete another OWSI program or an entire IDC before being eligible to attend an IE
